Customer's FAQ
Can all inkjet cartridges be refilled?

The majority of inkjet cartridges can be successfully refilled. However, cartridge manufacturers such as Epson, Canon, Hewlett Packard and Lexmark want you to buy their new cartridges. They often make cartridges with minor features designed to discourage you from having them refilled. For example, most of the newer HP and Lexmark cartridges will still show as “empty” when you check the ink level indicator included with your printer software even if they have been completely refilled and are printing perfectly. This is a minor nuisance...simply keep printing until you notice light prints or missing colours which indicate the cartridge is getting low on ink. Some of the latest Epson models cannot be refilled at all. In this case, we offer our customers a reliable “compatible cartridge” at substantial savings compared to the original Epson version.

How many times can I have my cartridge refilled?
Will refilling void my printer warranty?

Definitely not !  The Competition Act in Canada protects the consumer from “tied selling”. No company can sell a product and then force the consumer to buy further products from them in order to ensure their warranty remains valid.

How can I maximize my number of refills?

There are several things you can do. Print a little something in both Black and Color on a weekly basis. This keeps the ink flowing and prevents the print-head from drying out and developing blocked nozzles that will result in poor quality printouts. For print-head cartridges leave a little ink in the cartridge. Continuing to print when the cartridge is very low on ink can permanently damage the print-head making successful refilling impossible. And perhaps most importantly, have your cartridges refilled as soon as possible once close to br empty. Don’t leave them in your printer or desk drawer for a lengthy period. They will just dry out making successfully refilling much less likely.

My printer indicates my cartridge is empty but still prints well?

The ink level indicators on most inkjet printers only estimate the amount of ink left in the cartridges. We recommend that you print until seeing visible signs on the printed page such as light or streaky prints. Once this happens, you can try doing a print-head cleaning through the maintenance program for your printer. If the print does not improve your cartridge is surely empty. Keep in mind, the estimated ink level work both ways. Your printer may indicate there is still enough ink to print successfully when in fact it is empty and printing poorly. Once again, do a print-head cleaning. If prints are still not good your cartridge is most likely empty.

Can I refill my own cartridges?

This can vary greatly depending on a number of factors including cartridge type. Black and Colour ink tank cartridges can usually be filled 2 to 8 times and more if properly cared for. Black print-head cartridges can often be filled 2 to 6 times but the Colour print-head cartridges less often due to the added complexity of the cartridge and the possibility of colour contamination

You refilled my cartridge but it stills registers empty on my printer?

Most Hewlett Packard and Lexmark cartridges are electronically marked by your printer once they are empty. Even after being refilled and tested, your printer may show them as empty if you check your ink level indicator after reinstalling them. This is just a nuisance to discourage you from refilling. Simply keep printing until you see light or streaky prints.
